How To... Assign Mortgage Companies to Accounts

There are several ways to assign a mortgage code to an account.

One way to assign mortgage codes is to call up the account in Tax Payer Accounts and enter the “Change” mode (See How to … Tax Payer Account Record).  Then go to the Mortgage Code and select the Mortgage Company from the drop down.

Mortgage companies can be assigned by simply entering the Account Number or PIDN.

Select the mortgage company to assign to the accounts by using the Search By: CODE or NAME from the drop down.

Then click on the “Update Accounts” button in the application control section.

A pop up window allows the selection of accounts to be assigned to the mortgage company the Account Number or by the PIDN.  After entering a valid Account or PIDN.

Enter the Mortgage Company Loan No., if known.  If not known then just press <ENTER> to enter the next account number.

If an account is entered in error, put a check mark in the box to the right of “Loan No” and then click on the button “Delete Selection”.

If there is a mortgage code under the column “Old Code”, then when you update the accounts, the “Old Code” will be replaced by the “New Code”.  After entering all the account numbers, click on the button “Update Accounts” to update the mortgage code on the accounts.

Enter the reason for updating the mortgage code on the accounts.

Mortgage company accounts can be updated by automated file transfer.  The mortgage sends GDS a file with accounts that they want coded for processing.  Call GDS for more information or talk to your mortgage company representative.
